SEATTLE NIGHTLIFE

Seattle is known as the birthplace of grunge, the popular music trend of the 1990s, but the city has a rich and vibrant music scene that transcends any one genre. Ray Charles, Norah Jones, Kenny G, Pearl Jam, Death Cab for Cutie, Soundgarden, and other talented artists launched their careers in Seattle’s many venues and clubs. Legends Jimi Hendrix, Quincy Jones, and Kurt Cobain made their homes here. Belltown, Pioneer Square, and Capitol Hill are popular nightlife spots. Solid music acts and great acoustics make the Showbox and Tractor Tavern local favorites. Pick up a copy of the free alt-newspaper, The Stranger, to find out what’s playing where. Try out the famous Northwest microbrews at the neighborhood watering holes in Ballard and Fremont.
