Seattle travel guide

Though it has experienced tremendous recent growth, Seattle has retained a sense of community and laid-back style. The city is down-to-earth, unpretentious and comfortable; blue jeans and Birkenstocks are the standard dress code. Environmental stewardship remains a lifestyle. The close proximity of mountains and forests tease outdoor enthusiasts, sailboats and ferries dot the vast waterways, and salmon run the rivers and through the Ballard locks right alongside some of the highest numbers of bike commuters in the nation. So go ahead, take a ferry to the islands, listen to music at the local spot, enjoy the native microbrew, savor the fresh fish and organic cuisine, or head out for a hike in the pristine wilderness in its backyard—it’s all there for the taking.
