Mar del Plata is famous for its nightlife, especially during the high season when most theater companies from Buenos Aires and other entertainment venues come to town. The diversity that the city offers makes it easy to go out after dinner every night. You can choose to go to the Casino, the theater, or bar-hopping, and, believe me, there is plenty to choose from -- from going to a Tango show, or simply having a coffee by the ocean. Taking an after-dinner stroll along Alem Street is also a local tradition. Here you can even squeeze in some shopping or enjoy a beer-break in any of the resto-bars in the area. An alternative to the Alem area is Güemes Street, which also has many of the same characteristics as Alem Street.
