The hotel scene in L.A. is constantly changing and updating itself--the new developments planned for the bourgeoning downtown area are perfect examples of this. Since there is no shortage of nearly every kind and price range of accommodations in the city, its usually best to narrow your hotel search according to the neighborhoods or areas of the city where you think you’ll spend the most time (this will also make the transportation situation easier for you). In general, you’ll find higher prices during the summer and on the weekends, especially if your stay is near Disneyland or any of the movie studios. However, weekday rates at locations near the convention center can spike up at unexpected times. To avoid these ebbs and flows, some of our favorites include the W Hollywood, The London West Hollywood, or The O Hotel in the financial district. Malibu and Santa Monica are also great options if you’re ok with staying a short drive outside of the city.
