Boston Nightlife

Boston’s nightlife options can take you in any direction you choose: sophisticated cocktails at Drink or Green Street, dancing at Middlesex, comedy shows at Improv Asylum, live music at the Beehive, Scullers, the Middle East, or the Paradise. A few general trends are: 1. Irish pubs. Heavily Irish Boston is proud of their beers and pub food, which can be enjoyed at the Harp, the Black Rose, Beantown Pub, and The Squealing Pig, just to name a few. 2. A college crowd. There is an abundance of bars and dance clubs that cater to the just-old-enough to drink legally, highly concentrated in the B.U. neighborhoods of Allston/Brighton. 3. Excellence in live music. Especially if you enjoy live rock and jazz, you are in for a treat. But remember, because of Boston’s aged-old “blue laws,” almost everyplace that serves alcohol closes at 2 a.m.
